- Knox-Box® Key Boxes (Key Safes)
Commercial Buildings in Menomonee Falls are required to install a key box approved by the Menomonee Falls Fire Department. (MFFD) The system used by the MFFD is the high-security Knox-Box® key box. The property owners purchase the key box and it is mounted near their building entrances. Each Knox-Box is keyed to a single master key controlled by the MFFD which can be used to access the owner supplied entrance keys or access cards stored in the key safe during emergencies. This system reduces response time and property damage by eliminating the need to force doors open to gain entry.
Article Iii. - Fire Prevention Code
Division 1. - Generally
Section 46-59. - Key box
All buildings and structures subject to this article shall install and maintain a key box in an accessible location. The key box shall be a type approved by the chief of the fire department and shall contain keys necessary to gain access to the entire building or structure.
The MFFD uses the 3200 Series Knoxbox which is available in surface mount or recessed configurations.
