The Fire Chief in every community is tasked with conducting routine fire inspections of "every public building and place of employment" and all “multifamily dwellings that consists of 3 or more attached dwelling units" by Wisconsin Statute. In the case of multifamily dwellings, only the shared areas including corridors, stairways, basements, vestibules, atriums, community rooms, laundry rooms or swimming pool rooms are inspected. These inspections must be performed twice in each calendar year and are based on the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards that have been adopted by the State.
It’s our goal is to help the business or property owners ensure a fire-safe environment for themselves, their employees, tenants and customers.
To do so, Fire Inspectors visit approximately 1800 facilities throughout the Villages of Menomonee Falls and Lannon to visually inspect for hazards and to verify that fire alarm systems and fire sprinkler/extinguishing systems have received annual maintenance by a licensed contractor.
The Fire Inspectors will provide the responsible party with a list of any problem areas and are happy to offer guidance on what needs to be done to correct any observed fire code violations.
In the name of fire safety, we thank you for joining us in this partnership!
