Public Education

Side by side fire Opens in new windowOur aim, through public education, is to help make everyone's home and place of business as safe as possible. By sharing information about the causes of fire, and helping you identify possible hazards, we hope to prevent a fire before it starts.

Be prepared!

Maintaining and testing your smoke alarms and creating and practicing a fire escape plan is a great start!

Traditionally children are the primary group to receive fire safety education through school visits where we teach basic fire prevention, fire safety, and exit drills. In addition to educational materials and classes for students from toddler to college age, we have programs specifically designed for adults, parents, senior citizens, and for those with mobility issues.

In addition to fire safety, our public education programs encompass a wide range of general safety topics, and include hands-on training such as fire extinguisher use, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid. Please see our Public Education page for details.
