Fences

Before You Apply

In single family districts, fences up to 4 1/2 feet are permitted in front yards. In rear yards, fences may be higher. A permit must be obtained for any fence taller than 4 1/2 feet. On a corner lot, fencing that might obstruct vision may not be located near the intersection.

The Zoning Ordinance regulates fencing and issues permits for their installation in the village in residential and non-residential districts. Please feel free to contact the Zoning Department with any questions you may have regarding your project.
