Public Tree Inventory & Management Plans

The village contracted with Wachtel Tree Sciences in 2018 to create an inventory, management plan and Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) response plan for public trees in Menomonee Falls. The inventory and plans are being funded with support of a matching grant from the Wisconsin DNR and they will guide forestry operations for years to come.

Selected Inventory Findings

  • The village maintains 8,785 public trees along streets, in parks and around village facilities
  • These trees have an estimated value of $10.2 million
  • 22.4% of these trees are maple varieties
  • 12.1% of these trees are ash varieties – this factor necessitates an EAB response plan
  • 57% of trees are in good or better condition
