What is stormwater?
Stormwater is water from rain or melted snow or ice that doesn’t soak into the ground because of impervious surfaces such as rooftops, driveways, parking lots and roads; and therefore “runs off” across land.
Responsibilities
The Stormwater Utility is an organization that keeps up the infrastructure for a public service. In this case, the utility maintains stormwater infrastructure to reduce both flooding in the Village and pollutants from entering the state’s waterways.
- Repairs and maintains the village system to assure stormwater drainage
- Complies with federal and state standards

Stormwater Discharge Permit
The Village of Menomonee Falls has applied and been granted the NR216 WPDES Stormwater Permit (PDF). This permit regulates discharges from Menomonee River watershed municipalities storm sewer systems that may consist of runoff from rain events or snow melt and fluids from spills or illicit connections. The permit requirements are intended to restore and maintain the chemical, physical, and biological integrity of waters of the state through management and treatment of urban stormwater runoff.
