Before obtaining a permit for construction of a non-residential project, plans are required to be submitted and reviewed for approval. In Wisconsin, the State Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) has the ultimate authority to perform plan reviews and inspections of non-residential buildings.
Municipalities across the state may apply for and be granted a delegation to perform plan reviews and inspections. Delegated authority varies by the project scope (building, HVAC, plumbing, etc.), and by the size of the project. Some plans may be submitted to Menomonee Falls, while some are required to be submitted to DSPS for review.
Menomonee Falls has been granted Appointed Agent status by DSPS in building and HVAC and has the authority to perform plan reviews of projects of any size and scope for building and HVAC plan approvals.
Feel free to call the building department at 262-532-4282 if you have questions regarding plan submission requirements.
