Things To Do
- Record make, model, and serial number and keep in a safe place.
- Register your bicycle with the police department.
- Report your stolen bicycle to the police department as soon as possible.
- Report suspicious persons observed near bicycle racks.
- Use authorized bike racks. In other areas, secure your bike in a frequently traveled, well-lit area.
- Make sure to lock both your frame and a wheel to the bike rack.
- At home, keep your bike out of sight.
Things Not To Do
- Leave your bicycle unattended and unlocked.
- Use small cable or chain lock, they can easily be cut with bolt cutters.
- Secure to chain link fence or other objects significantly weaker in strength than your lock.
