Things To Do

  • Record make, model, and serial number and keep in a safe place.
  • Register your bicycle with the police department.
  • Report your stolen bicycle to the police department as soon as possible.
  • Report suspicious persons observed near bicycle racks.
  • Use authorized bike racks. In other areas, secure your bike in a frequently traveled, well-lit area.
  • Make sure to lock both your frame and a wheel to the bike rack.
  • At home, keep your bike out of sight.

Things Not To Do

  • Leave your bicycle unattended and unlocked.
  • Use small cable or chain lock, they can easily be cut with bolt cutters.
  • Secure to chain link fence or other objects significantly weaker in strength than your lock.
