The Menomonee Falls Fire Department is a progressive, professional urban fire department that covers 36 square miles with a population of 38,074; the daytime population can exceed 40,000. Menomonee Falls is considered the largest Village and the 21st largest municipality in the State of Wisconsin. The Village of Menomonee Falls has one major freeway, one major railroad line, and a large chemical warehouse and processing facility. The Village is also home to a 190 bed-acute care regional hospital, several large medical clinics, assisted living facilities, specialty care facilities and nursing homes.
We have five (5) strategically located fire stations and 72 members, made-up of full-time and part-time staff. In 2015 we moved the current Station 1 to Main and Menomonee and consolidated with the Lannon Fire Department in an effort to increase the overall protection to the citizens of Menomonee Falls and Lannon, In addition, we added Station 5 to cover the southwest end of the Village. The dedication of the Menomonee Falls Fire Department Members has made the communities of Menomonee Falls and Lannon a safer place. The Menomonee Falls Fire Department Members and Staff are proud of their rich history of service to the community and strive to research new and innovative ways of providing the most efficient and professional services possible to those who reside in, work in, or visit our community. The professional, highly-trained, dedicated Members of the Menomonee Falls Fire Department work around the clock to keep its citizens safe.
We accomplished this by doing these initiatives –
- We changed and improved the Fire Prevention/Education processes.
- Changed the staffing and response matrixes to answer calls more efficiently and effectively.
- Created the first Citizens Fire Academy.
- Added a third Paramedic Unit to provide more and consistent higher level of Emergency Medical Service.
- Purchased all Battery Operated Extrication Equipment for all Fire Engines/Trucks so that it was readily available at any time should it be needed at the scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident.
- Implemented LUCAS Chest Compression devices at three (3) Fire Stations to assist crews in CPR and reducing the morbidity and mortality rates in Pulseless Non-Breathing patients.
- Implemented a "Keep the Wreath Green" campaign during the Christmas Season to reduce Holiday related fires and promote fire safety.
- Also, implemented an "Adopt a Hydrant" program where citizens can "Adopt" a Fire Hydrant near their home and keep it shoveled throughout the Winter/Snow months.
In 2018 the Fire Department responded to approximately 4,457 calls for service. This year we are on track to respond to almost 4,500 to 5,000.
