This February, the Menomonee Falls Police Department would like to raise awareness for “Safer Internet Day” throughout the U.S. This campaign started in 2003 and is now recognized in over 100 countries worldwide.
Safer Internet Day, held on February 11th, strives to create both a safer and better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, and safely. The campaign aims to reach both children and adults, and shares internet topics, videos, podcasts, and resources to keep our families safe in this age of AI and online influencers. More information about the campaign can be found at https://safer.connectsafely.org/.
We recognize and understand that this topic can be overwhelming at times for parents trying to protect their children who access the internet. To help, there are a plethora of resources and quick guides available at https://connectsafely.org/parentguides/ to help parents navigate the world of tech and social media as it pertains to their children.
Our Department remains committed to providing information and resources to the community to help them stay safe while surfing the web. The Menomonee Falls Special Investigations Bureau investigates all Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) complaints and utilizes various resources and partnerships to bring offenders to justice.
Consider taking a few moments to learn more about these resources and determine if they could help you and your family stay safe on the web.
