[ARCHIVED] The "Key" to Deterring Vehicle Thefts...

Many times, people are often busy with their day to day lives.  Perhaps you are working two jobs, have a late meeting, get home late or are caring for children or elderly relatives.  Many times these priorities cause people to forget basic safety precautions when it comes to their vehicle. Here are some reminders to help deter thefts from and thefts of your vehicle:

-Always lock your vehicle doors.

-Do not leave your keys or key fob inside the vehicle.

-Place valuables out of sight.  Best practice is to remove the valuables.

-Know your license plate number. In the unfortunate event your vehicle is stolen, knowing your license plate can help us initiate the search for the vehicle sooner.

-Try to avoid letting your vehicle warm up, unlocked without some extra precautions. Lock the door and utilize a spare key.

-Lastly, be aware of activity that may be suspicious.  Remember descriptions of vehicle or people if you were to observe a theft take place.
