[ARCHIVED] Oh Deer...It's that time of year!

Drive carefully and keep an eye out for Deer! Right now, deer are entering into the rutting season making their movements more frequent, particularly during the early morning and evening hours.  We have seen an increase in car versus deer crashes and want to remind the motoring public of these hazards this time of year.  Many times, when one deer crosses the road another one is not too far behind so be careful.  Another helpful reminder is to be very careful when trying to avoid striking a deer.  There have been cases were vehicles swerve into on-coming traffic or off the shoulder putting themselves or other drivers in greater danger.

If you were to hit a deer please contact the police 262-446-5070 or 911 if there are injuries or immediate hazards.  Often times the deer may create a potential for a secondary crash if it is in the roadway.  Turn your hazards on and try to safely get out of traffic so you remain safe as well.  For more information on reportable crashes: Crash FAQs
