Village Park Project
In 2022, the Village is moving forward on a second phase of improvements at Village Park. The Phase II project will create a 12,000+ square foot accessible play area, a splash pad, and a combination pickleball and tennis court facility. It also includes shade structures, trails, and a reservable picnic shelter. These improvements will contribute to the transformation of Village Park into community gathering space.
The play area and splash feature are expected to be among the most utilized features in the Village's park system. This project is supported by a $1 million fundraising campaign being led by the Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls. Construction on the Phase II is expected to begin in April and to be completed this fall.
The Phase II project complements a first phase of improvements that was completed in 2020. The 2020 project added a plaza space for outdoor markets/events, a performance amphitheater, a restroom building with a covered gathering area, inviting landscape features, and access improvements. These projects fulfill the vision adopted in the 2018 Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan Update to create a downtown park space that will accommodate a broad range of community events and programming.
Village Park Plan Overview
Phase II Project Updates
Work began this spring with utility relocations and demolition of the existing tennis and basketball court facilities.
Early this summer, site grading, storm water systems, curbs, electric and water infrastructure, and pumping equipment for the splash pad were built at the site. Splash pad fountains, lamp posts, and footings for the structures were constructed next.
Currently, the hard hardscape, play equipment, shade structures, picnic shelter and court facilities are being constructed. Landscape features, seating, and other site furnishings will be installed on the site prior to the planned fall ribbon cutting.
The west parking area at Village Park will be closed for the duration of the project and a new internal parking area will be constructed as part of the project. Garfield Drive will remain open throughout the project.
See below for recent construction photos and renderings of the accessible play area and splash pad.
