Beginning Friday March 5, the Village will place 6 ton load limit signs along roadways restricting heavy vehicles.
The Village places weight restrictions on Village roadways in the spring of the year to limit damage to the pavement that can occur when frost and moisture are leaving the roadway subgrade.
During the period of posted load limit restrictions, all non-essential vehicles in excess of 6 tons will be prohibited from traveling on posted roadways. These vehicles include construction material delivery trucks, concrete trucks, landscaping trucks, dumpster transport trucks, etc. These weight limit restrictions will be enforced by the Police Department beginning on Monday, March 8, 2010. Posted load limit restrictions will be removed at such time as the Village determines that the roadways have thawed and dried sufficiently to support these heavy vehicle loads (approximately 30 days).
Municipal vehicles (DPW, Police and Fire), utility company vehicles, fuel delivery vehicles, garbage and recycling vehicles and parcel/appliance delivery vehicles are exempt from these restrictions.
If you have any questions regarding these restrictions, please contact the Department of Public Works at (262) 532-4700.
