How We Do It

Explorer Post Activities
Trained by a special group of qualified instructors and mentor / advisors, all of whom are active certified Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services professionals, the explorers get a truly in-depth view of all of the aspects of one of the most rewarding professions available, whether career or volunteer.

The explorers meet every Tuesday night with one of the Menomonee Falls fire companies during regular department trainings. In addition, explorers have a training session on Sunday afternoon, once a month. Typically, a session consists of a preliminary meeting on the evening's events and continues on with a drill, on one of the many possible areas of fire or EMS training.

The explorers are supervised at all times and are demonstrated all techniques before applying them. Any skill deemed potentially hazardous or difficult without special training may be explained to the explorers but not practiced.

Facility Tours

In addition, the explorers go a lot of places! Tours of other facilities are very common. Some examples include:
  • Flight for Life Headquarters at Froedtert Hospital
  • Mitchell International Airport Fire / Rescue
  • Milwaukee Area Fire Departments
  • Exchange programs with other area explorer posts
