With many current active members, the Explorers get a hands-on learning experience with skills such as:
Search and rescue
Rescue and fire tool usage
Communication equipment and skills development
Simulations of fire and accident situations, including auto extrication
CPR and Red Cross First Aid training
Use of fire gear and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), the dry-land equivalent of SCUBA
Practicing skills such as these allows the explorers to effectively utilize their minds and bodies in a positive and efficient manner, and provides them with some of the personal and relational attributes that will assist them in college, a career, or the fire service.
